Mages are indeed quite dangerous and extremley hard to defeat, this applies at any level. Mages cast the most dangerous and effecient spells than all the other caster groups combined. They can cancel almost every type of magic, lower magical defences with incredible eaze, and quickly destroy any target professionally... Mages are not to be messed with. Mages power, unlike Sorcerers and Wizards, do not require a mana pool, nor do they require un-nessecary amounts of meditation to make their magic function. Once magic is done by a mage, it is forgotten, only to be re-memorized at a later time. This means his arsonal is far more vast than any sorcerer and far more powerful than any wizard. I said before mages wont go down first or easy, and thats because their own power is literelly imbued within their mind and body. Mages have higher level disciplines and can destroy utterly anything slower than him. However, although Mages have the potential to be the most powerful casters in the world, they are the slowest in leveling, and are usually retired at the age of 50 at the level of 30. But I am changing that. I will make it so that any hard working mage should grow at least a level a year.

Mages can cast quickly, do extreme damage in one hit, and cast again without having any trouble that mana would cause.

Mages can negate almost all spells or magic instantly and dispell people temporarily from using magic.

Mages's own spells are nearly impossible to negate and are so efficient, they can destroy other casters and any non-magical aera in a matter of seconds.

Mages are the masters of psionics, and usually incorperate these into spells to make them even more dangerous, a truley powerful entity one would be.

The need for Mages first came up when a group of evil sorcerers conjured deamons to destroy the earth, and magic couldnt stop these creatures. So the wizards sacraficed most of their people to get information on how to stop it. By doing this, they have concluded there is a force that needs to be created. They reaserched and temples soon came into existance and that power was soon at hand. They prayed for a miracle, and a power was created to the weave, this bieng the magic of mages.
